Anth 3570 22/03/16 lecture 9: animal emotion and conflict resolution. Holding grudges is not a male thing. Bottom-up view of morality desire to love, and be loved do everything to stay on good terms. Reconciliation: a friendly reunion between opponents not long after a fight. The tendency to reconcile is a political calculation that varies by species, gender, and society. Paradoxically the level of aggression says little about peacemaking the more aggressive gender may be best a making peace and the more peaceful gender worst. Animals are restricted to a few basic emotions. The first ideas about theory of mid were developed by emil menzel, who focused on emotional body language to see what apes know about what others know. The so-called play face of primates is homologous with human laughter not only does it resemble laughter, but the accompanying hoarse vocalization do as well.
