parachuted in ahead of 14,000 Canadian troops that came ashore at Juno Beach
• 340 Canadian casualties on Juno beach - critical to understand that Canadian meet more

• Because of the war, Canada became a wealthy nation, which lead to

• Aftermath, there was a housing shortage and certain goods were in shortage

Maurice Duplessis
• Quebec premier Maurice Duplessis started the path to autonomy (1947)
o died in 1959, but help to break the stranglehold the catholic church had on politics
