Undersea cables (going from united states to europe are the strongest) The tethered self: always online, available for interruption, dependent, anxious. Turkle (woman who wrote the book) understands the problems associated with the tethered self socially, culturally and developmentally. New media technologies continue to rapidly change the terms of connection, intimacy, privacy, separation. A technology-enabled social contact demands continual peer presence (turkle).
