Had a lot of influence over how we think about children. An artistic, literary, musical and intellectual movement in the 18th century europe. Jean-jacques rousseau believed that children came from god, worried about the loss of childhood innocence, and was concerned by the ways the adult world contaminates the child. Before the 19th century, children were seldom viewed as having an identity separate from adults; instead, they were miniature adults, not much different from their parents. They made childhood present and letting people know to let children be children. Talking to children about their daily activities. How they do on test how well a child should read at a certain age. Stories that have been passed down over years. Hear about more about boys rather than girls. Historical documents typically focus on the world of the adult. Always started off by describing the adults experience then they talk about the child.
