Out of context (portrait), you will see the painting different than how he is describing her and the painting. Rhyming creates a control count and keeps you reading his rant. Appears to be beautiful and innocent but in reality she isn"t. The love song of j. alfred prufrock by t. s. Speaker knows life is slipping away and all he wants to do is speak to this one woman but he can"t. There are many distractions to the man.
