Can be read all about the theatre. Time is clear in this play, two hours of glasses, there is a sense of time at the beginning and end (very clearly) Two hours after the illusion of the shipwreck. The notion of awakening: from real life, watching the play. Sense of time is interrupted by the dream/sleep. Act 1 scene 1 is short and set the scene of the shipwreck. Act 1 scene 2 is very long. Shakespeare manages the unity of time very well, constructing the unity. Ariel stages the effects of play, even though prospero takes the credit. We are unsure who has the true power, either ariel or prospero. Audience is amazed by all the special effects. Ariel is the one who does everything, he is the stage crew/director, he is the invisible voice, one of the virtues. Act 5 scene 1 prospero shows like he is quoting faustus, he will burn his books on magic.
