No thesis in the essays: must be and argument. Gets less and less throughout the course of the book and grows again at the end. Shows a big imagination for the author. Relay what he has gone through (fight with mom - emotions effect imagination) Elements: first two pictures important because there is a lot of white space, white space lessens throughout the book. Texture throughout the book: makes the fancy world more real. Feeling of being trapped (what room is he in?) Can"t tell what the wild things are (let"s imagination roam) Banned by some librarians in the sixties. Two pages in black and white: goodnight turning off light may be why they use black and white, not as exciting as they are going to bed. Not everything was always in the room (some inconsistencies) Goodnight nobody: many kids find this part funny. Colour pages get darker and darker into the book.
