Document Summary

Act 2 opens with marie-ange and germaine, in novemebre of 1944. Tit-coq, who is fighting in the war, while germaine is on the phone. Soon after germaine hangs up, she begins to pester marie-ange about writing to tit-coq. Marie-ange does not go out anymore, but stays inside, gloomily writing to her love overseas. Germaine continues to pester marie-ange for her devotion, clearly showing some discontent towards tit-coq who she seems to believe is holding marie ange back from being happy. Germaine displays a very rude sense of worry as she seems to want marie-ange"s happiness above all else, but means to achieve it by forcing her to unhappily go out without her tit-coq. Their aunt then enters the scene and continues germaine"s persistence to get marie-ange out of the house. The family seems to be ganging up on the young girl, trying to force her to get away from tit coq, and seemingly into the arms of another man.
