The republic of korea (south korea) under syngman rhee. The democraic people"s republic of korea (north korea): kim il-sung. Korean communist party founded in 1925 by pak h ny ng: russian revoluion provided a model, and hope that they could overcome. Japan"s rule: saw that western powers would do litle to support this movement. Turned to the communists for help, inancial and other ways: communist party was iniltrated by japanese troops, leaders went into exile, in siberia, moscow, manchuria, shanghai. The korean provisional govt: set up in china to give naionalists direcion: done by the people in exile in shanghai, syngman rhee, kim ku (conservaive, right-wing, yi tonghwi (radical, let-wing, tried to represent the interests of koreans. Found it hard to work together because of their diferent approaches. Emerging cold war made this situaion more diicult. Iii: us and su occupied southern and northern regions of korea ater ww ii.
