The us overshadows all other countries with their rates of incarceraion. In canada more people are incarcerated in relaion to european countries of the same economic/poliical/social government. In 2012 census showed that the number of incarcerated people had rose 17% between. 2006 and 2011, these numbers relect only those who were in prison for more than 6 months. Correcional services canada is expanding, it claimed that by the end of 2014 it was going to add more than 2600 accommodaions. Incarceraion has come to be seen as a mean to control society: it is used to punish transgressors and keep behaviour under control. Not only are canada and the us incarceraing more people but people are being sent for longer periods of ime. Despite all of it"s ideals it would quickly funcion as a tool of subordinaion. It has failed to reform individuals, it has failed to solve the problem of crime.
