Hunter-gatherers have a limited acquisition of material goods they don"t own things. Things that are owned" are usually owned collectively. Hunter-gatherers (modern humans) divided labour between the sexes there was no division in neandertal societies. Hunters get the essential protein, and gatherers produce children and process the protein into edible substances. Men use the control of protein to control women.
