Idst 2500: 14th sept. , 2015 food security or food sovereignty. The vast majority of undernourished people live in the developing world. Poverty, however, is not equally to undernourished. There are 795 million classified as hungry in the world 780 million off these people are in the developing world. 11% of the world"s population in undernourished. South asia and sub-saharan africa (in the last 25 years) have had an increase in malnutrition. The u. s. government has classified more than 49 million people as hungry. Food prices have increased in the last 8 years. Food deserts: a term referring to the need to travel to get food. 4 million canadians struggle to obtain food. In nunavut, 36% of people are food insecure. For the first time in decades, below 800 million people are classified as hungry. This appears to be a good thing, however it is based upon a caloric intake for a sedentary lifestyle.
