Anth 4512 contemporary issues in global health, lecture 1 07/09/17. Pathogenic thought shapes how we understand health we tend to see it through the lens of bio-medicine, and see it as a tangible thing within our own bodies. Health policy is interchangeable with health-care policy, and refers to access. We as humans need water, shelter, clean air, nutrients, positive social interactions, access to health services/medicine, physical activity, sanitation, non-violent context, rest/leisure, community/love to be healthy. We will be focusing on global health governance, and whose interests are served by the way health is governed (i. e. big pharma) 8 out of 11 weeks, you must hand in a one-page summary of the readings you can choose the weeks pull out the main themes from the readings must be submitted on.
