Science is rooted in a whole apparatus of common sense thought whitehead (1916) Clever hans, a horse in germany, he could do simple math by using his hoof and seeing certain shades of colour (oskar pfungst was carl stumpf"s student and questioned if it was all just a hoax) When the question is asked and they know the answer there is a subtle movement of the eye which the horse was able to pick up those ques leading to him to. Horse is conditioned to pick up these ques. Died a few years after the hoax with discovered from liver cancer.
