Has become a fast growing area of science. As a result of this level of sophistication, it allowed for the study of dreams to occur as an outcropping. Research grew very quickly, and lead to clinical applications of dreams. As a result, people are more interested in their own dreams it drives the field of study. The notions of dreams of all kinds that have been seen readily in tv shows and movies. During waking, the aminergic transmitter (epinephrine/norepinephrine and serotonin) systems are very active. During rem, there is practically no aminergic activity at all in the brain.
