Family stress contributes to family violence, which has many vicims-women, men, children, adolescents, siblings, and elders- and which assumes many diferent forms, such as physical abuse, emoional abuse, sexual abuse, inancial abuse, and neglect. A tendency to use violence as a means to resolve problems and control others. Common social psychological characterisics of men who abuse: ideal man is one who is in-control of every dimension of his life (including his partner) Need and right to keep their women in line. Real men do not express certain emoions (fear and tenderness) they can express anger. Blame stress, alcohol, and or their partners evidence that many abusers sufered abuse during their childhood. Many are caught in a cycle of sexism very jealous. Noion that violence against men is equal to violence against women is not true: majority is sill violence against women, done by men.
