Family stress contributes to family violence, which has many victims-women, men, children, adolescents, siblings, and elders- and which assumes many different forms, such as physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, financial abuse, and neglect. A tendency to use violence as a means to resolve problems and control others. 1/10 men had committed a serious offence against a female partner in 60% of cases where women kill their partners, it was in defense from harm to themselves or another family member. Evidence that many abusers suffered abuse during their childhood. Many are caught in a cycle of sexism. Rates of partner abuse by unemployed men are almost double than employment. Rates of abuse are almost double for younger couples. Younger couples are at much greater risk of partner abuse.
