Annual number of births per 1000 females in a designated area. Divide the number of live births in a year by population and then multiply that number by 1000. Annual number of deaths per 1000 people in the area divided by the population. In advanced industrial societies people use birth control as these areas also change: Children are more likely to survive past childbirth/infancy.
