It is the treatment of remains, and of artefacts. Curators and archaeologists are not the only authorities on how objects should be treated. They are sculptures that came from the acropolis in athens, and were cultures on the exterior of the building. They are symbolic of the issues because they are objects that came from greece, taken by the british, and are now installed in a museum. The current government of greece wants them back, because they argue that these artifacts should have never left athens. The museum disagrees with this, arguing that they took these legally, and are protecting them. They establish that the earl elgin had a diplomatic role, was the ambassador to the ottoman empire.
