Document Summary

Everyday life for the average person was a lot like it was in the medieval period. One typically remained within their villages, due to the fear of the supernatural. The morality rate was very high for these people. Being a child was dangerous, from birth until 5 years, because children were susceptible to illness, and there were a lot of freak accidents. Corpses were a very common sight to see at this time. Even if you weren"t a poor peasant, you might not live beyond 40. However, the wealthier you were, the more likely it was to have a longer life. If you were wealthy in the country, you could live put to 50-60. Poor peasants tended to live in windowless cottages. This kept the house warm, enabled them to cook. The houses tended to be smokey and sooty because of these fires. They were typically a single large room, so it was very cramped.
