Goals of the class:
o Define “human resources planning (HRP)”.
o Explain ways to forecast HR needs.
o Distinguish between internal & external supply estimates for human resources.
o Identify ways to manage shortages and surpluses of human resources.
Human resources planning (HRP): a system of planning to ensure HRM demands are satisfied
with and adequate qualified supply of labour
Ie: labour shortage in Alberta brought in temp. workers from Philippines, worker
incentives, large starting wages for unskilled jobs, etc
