Document Summary

It reflects existing gener differences and inequalities - his and hers media. Media is controlled by men, especially the more expensive or established they are. Thus, we see a lot of sports, violent drama, action movies, male hero, etc. The superbowl, with all the ads and whatnot that are aimed at men; beer, cars, etc. This actively contracts for the audience that these gender differences and inequalities are normal and natural. Gender assumptions are put into films as well. Reproduces these inequalities by making them seem natural and ubiquitous (reification) You separate the original context in which it occurs, makes the original context disappear. For marx, this was a way to make a social order, and keep loyal to their society, and kept their place. We take an object, such as a gender difference, and treat is as though it is real or natural.
