Only about 50% efficient (other half generates heat) Muscles only about 25% efficient (other 75% is heat) More t3/t4 when being exposed to the cold all the time. Shivering produces a ton of heat with little work. Why they need to be under a heat lamp. If you have a portion of skin is exposed to cold but the core is hot then the body will still try to dissipate heat. Vein is as close to artery as possible. Need to exchange heat between artery and vein. Keep arteries and veins away from each other. Gets more blood to surface of the skin. In cows fermentations produces a ton of heat. Can"t dissipate heat because the sweat doesn"t evaporate. If you increase the ways an animal can dissipate heat then you reduce chances of heat stressed.
