Endocrine system is the collecion of glands and issues of the body that secrete chemical messengers into blood & intesinal luid integrates acivity of organs and organ systems throughout body. Neuroendocrinology: close associaion between endocrine and nervous system, brian regulates secreion from endocrine glands, hormones modify cns funcion, nerve cells & gland cells both: Secrete chemical messengers that act on target cells. Secrete hormones that are distributed throughout vasculature system. Can act as a neurotransmiter, neural hormone, classic hormone. Act over a short ime (ms to mins) Sympatheic changes can take a bit longer b/c they involve endocrine system. Signals are electrical impulses conducted along axons. Chemical messengers conduct the impulse b/w neurons. May efect many diferent issues and organs simulataneously. All over a long duraion (mins to days)
