Adding or deleting methyl groups which activates or deactivates certain genes. Enzymes to release and breakdown the zona pellucida to get inside the oocyte to fertilize. Forms what will be the head area and all the enzymes around it. Wants to be easy to transport and therefore very compact. Manchette will help the mitochondria access the top of the head. All the cytoplasm is ending up around the tail. Need to differentiate into what we call a sperm. Not all spermatogonia will get to primary spermatocytes.
