Document Summary

Long history of differing views: extinction possible/not possible, evolution possible/not possible, nature of change within a species. Evolutionary hypotheses are highly testable. they have material evidence that is diverse and consistently fits into evolutionary predictions. It"s based on central concepts ( the origin of species by charles darwin). Biologists could borrow darwin"s methods to guide them in a new and promising direction. Evolution theory helps us understand the roles of biological variation and genetics in human evolution, which is due to the common ancestor theory. The world is unchanging, thus the forms that make up the world must also be unchanging. Perfect, eternal forms exist (ideal world) beyond the imperfect, mortal organisms that occupy the physical (material) world. All living things are bound in a linear continuum of perfection. By the middle ages, many scholars thought they could describe the organizing principles responsible for harmony in nature.
