Humans are not descended from apes a common ancestor is all that there is. Taxonomy: classification based on morphology, behaviour and geography linnaeus started this classification: morphology, behaviours, geography. Homoplasy: similar traits due to a similar environment. Cladistics: study that focuses only on evolutionary relatedness using only homologous traits. Consists of two traits: primitive: shared, characteristic of an ancestral and a descendant population, derived: shared traits that not present in the ancestral population divergence of species (changes after breaks in the ancestry occurs). Quadruped vertical clinging and leaping (extremely long legs relatively to the rest of the body). Feet (bone under the femur) telling of vertical clinging. Mostly vegetarian the dental shape of their teeth. Only in madagascar island off the east coast of africa. Arboreal quadruped not good at vertical clinging but quite steady. Arboreal the talus bone is huge and thus excellent vertical clingers. The rotation of the eyes to the front of the skulls indicating 3d vision.
