Document Summary
Medium( invention of oil painting to facilitate detail vs primarily tempera and fresco in the 15th century. Used oil for bigger painting then use gesso and repeat =so you it is more sustained(able to add more detail) Smooth finish from oil glazes- lights goes through layers of oil then bounces off. If vectors all point to one location then it is probably italian. Large scale frescos where paint goes in a rougher surface. Mind knows certain things to be true about the world ex you know that railroad tracks are two parallel lines going to infinity. However those tracks seem to converge in the middle (illusion is that lines converge together but you know its probably the same size for tunnel. Are you going to represent what your mind sees or the illusion. Overcome limitation and make you look into a different reality. Orthogonal- a component of the grid that maps out the pictorial space in linear perspective.
