Italian Influence on the Renaissance
At the dawn of the Renaissance, Italy was not a country.
Composed of:
Ghibellines - Supported the Pope
The Pope: authority was two fold. He was the ruler of lands and also the head of the
catholic church. He was a kind of king figure for the states
Guelphs - Supported the Holy Roman Emperor
Florence
FLORENCE
Florence was densely packed, on part because of its popularity and stylish life style
The Doumo church was run by the Medici Family
