Although the transformations and the Renaissance itself was revolutionary (in

ā¢ The most signiļ¬cant change was demographic.! The creation of cities caused a
rising urban population, which then changed the social dynamic within the middle
ages.
ā¢ There were only a few cities in the middle ages, and they were not signiļ¬cant
ā¢ Populations of people began to cluster which caused a shift from a rural to urban
lifestyle.
ā¢ No middle class in the middle ages, huge gap between aristocracy and the
peasants. The gap will eventually be ļ¬lled and that will acquire wealth which will
eventually transform the economic makeup of the population.
ā¢ Living conditions were better compared to villages, but still undesirable.

ā¢ Inheriting land used to be your wealth, if you were poor there was no other way
for you to make money
ā¢ Within the cities there Is opportunity for merchants and traders (with no inherited
title, meaning no land) to make money. This allowed for the previously non
existent middle class to slowly ļ¬ll up and grow.
