Document Summary

Have a central question/thesis that you are writing towards. Better to have a strong topic than 3 set paragraphs: not strict on 5 paragraphs and heavy formatting, flowing ideas >>> Don"t pick a topic and find 3 points and write 3 mini loosely related essays. Stick to one topic, focus on 3 parts of one idea. Have one set idea and support it well. How to start an essay: just brainstorm. Get stuff on paper: pick solid ideas and write down quotes that support these ideas, pick your favourite/best quotes and explain in detail how it actually connects. Mla style: essay topic 1: if no other sources are used then you only need to cite the 2 stories. The second there is extra research you have to cite those sources: link on e-class to mla style guide. What is the text? (title + author) What type of text? (print, electronic, poem, book etc)
