They have the capacity to enact back on the self, repressing to the individual the person they once were, and to some degree, still are (curling hair, painting nails) Individual and social representation of one"s self in habitual gestures and actions. We enact social class in and through the body. Clothing is important as it is our nearest environment and a re ection of ourselves. Outward expression of former identity that helps to remind an individual of who they once were. When the body is maneuvered or controlled, the identity of they individual is lost. Female residents no longer wear bras or forms of support underwear. Challenging social norms and embracing their age and wearing clothing that is not congenitally acceptable for their age demographic: what sense can we make of clothing in the lm and its relationship to embodied selfhood/continuity of the self.
