Fashion: complex and resource intensive fashion is a complicated business involving long and varied supply chains - from raw materials, textile manufacturing, clothing construction, shipping, retail, use and ultimately disposal of the garment. Challenges to consumer engagement there are two broad aspects of sustainability which create challenges for both consumers and businesses: one is the future idea: when the coasts are far in the future, they are less salient to people. 2. the second aspect is that the costs are often not directed at individual consumers or companies, but they are borne by the society. New business models? businesses see market potential in openly communicating about their operations sites and sustainable practices to maintain legitimacy and build reputation, remain competitive. 5. need to focus on these in context of supply chain management.
