- Travelled quite a bit to other countries
Symphonie Fantastique
- Written in 1830, Berlioz was 26 years old
- The original premiere date, May 1830, was cancelled and the work was premiered later in December of
1830
- Psychedelic work, different stages of an opium dream
- Five movements: a fast sonata form with slow introduction, a waltz movement, a slow movement, a
march, and a fast finale
- Fixed idea, recurring melody that haunts the protagonist, subsequent transformations of the fixed
idea
