Literature review systematic and critical appraisal of the most important literature on a topic, is a key step in the research process that provides the basis of a research study. Conceptual framework or theoretical framework, is a structure of concepts or theories pulled together as a map for the study. Provides rationale for the development of research questions or hypotheses. Conceptual/theoretical framework may not be separately identified, it may be embedded in the literature review section of an article or simply not included. Literature review provides you with the systematic tools to: 1) consider how the theoretical or conceptual framework guides development of a research study. 2) critically appraise a research study or group of research studies. 3) locate, search for, and retrieve research studies, systematic reviews, documents and statistical reports.
