Exclusive breast feeding: only breast milk, no other food or liquid (not even water) is given to the infant from birth fed. This is used for infants that receive a supplement or something that temporarily interrupts exclusive breast feeding. Total breast feeding: for at least the last 7 days have been exclusively breast. Predominant breast feeding: breast milk plus 1 2 feeding of non-human milk. Partial breast feeding: breast milk plus 3 or more feeding of non-human milk. Who recommends that there be exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months. At the 6-month mark, there can be introduction to complementary food as the mother continues to breast feed for at least a year. Breast feeding can continue up to 2 years if the parents wish. The initiation rates increase with education and household income as well. Within canada, more immigrants initiate breast feeding than canadian borns. Duration rates lots of women start but approximately only 22% ebf for the full 6-month recommendation.
