Document Summary

Structural or systemic + affects social groups. There can be oppression, but there is not necessarily an oppressing individual on the other side, there is always a group with benefits. In society there will be rules that stop you from doing some things (ie: you must stop at a red light), but this is not oppression. Not all constraints are types of oppression. We have been arguing of who is more oppressed than who. Marx says that all oppression is reduced to economic oppression. Young says that all forms of oppression are bad, however we spend too much time fighting over who is more oppressed than others. Has to do with the organization of labour. The transfer the energies and result of labour from one group to another. To stop this we need more radical changes in order to stop this flow of energy in the same way. The energy of one group tends to be there to help others.
