Book 1 happiness and being-at-work: aristotle tries to define the final end. Its a matter of happiness and being at work (actuality not potency) where the being at work is achieved by practicing. Considers various positions/opinions to what happiness can be. We find that happiness is a matter of complete virtue as an active state of the soul. Book 2 virtue and the mean: aristotle wants to explain how to understand and develop virtue, general discussion of virtue, distinguishes between virtues of character and intellect. Book 3 responsibility and the primary virtues of character: talks about nature of willing, decision and choice (3. 1-3. 5); work through primary virtues: courage (3. 6- Book 6 virtues of thinking: intellectual virtues, concept of phronesis: practical judgement/wisdom.
