Document Summary
The mind is what the mind does (monism) Subjective experience is how it feels to be a brain". Cells in the nervous system that communicate with one another to perform information-processing tasks. Discovered the synapse through these drawings and how they communicate between one another. 3 main parts of a neuron: cell body, dendrites, axon. Coordinates information-processing tals; keeps the cell alive. Receive info from other neurons and relay it to the cell body. Transmit info to other neurons muscles, or glands. Single axon (can be up to 1m long!) Covers the axon in some neurons (white matter = axon w/ myelin; grey matter: Insulating layer of fatty material axon without myelin) Axon with myelin can send info 30x faster than an axon without the myelin sheath. Glial cells: are supporting cells found in the nervous system (1-5 trillion)(form myelin sheath) Synapse: space between the axon of one neuron and the dendrites mor cell body of another neuron.
