Document Summary

We have around 100 billion in the brain. Axon terminals and terminal buttons: in order for neurons to communicate, physical contact is not needed. There are connections with as many as 50 000 other neurons. Bipolar (interneuron): can do quick processing and communicating between neurons, important for reflexes. Prukinje cell of cerebellum: its very involved in the reception of information (because of how many dendrites it has) Astroglia: provides structural support, supports the blood-brain barrier, and helps manufacture nutrients (they might actually be able to communicate with neurons and other glial cells) Oligodendroglia: forms myelin sheath in central nervous system. In the peripheral nervous system, schwann cells do they myelinating. Grey matter: upper regions of the cerebral cortex. Brief shift in electrical charge that travels along neuron. Charges come in small and different magnitudes and weaken when they reach the axon hillock. The charges also spread out (dissipate) and weaken; their charges change over time so they are graded.
