Babies 18 months and younger will not recognize themselves as they don"t yet have the level of self -recognition. Conscious = mental events we are currently aware of. Preconscious = events outside of current awareness; easily recalled. Unconscious = not brought into conscious awareness (usually) Controlled = voluntary use of attention; slow but flexible. Automatic = minimal conscious processing; fast but static. Difficult if tasks require similar resources e. g. listening to a lecture and reading a text. Impact other actions e. g. using cell phone and driving. Hormone melatonin is important for the regulation of peoples" biological clock.
