Psychological disorder: fuzzy concept: some things we think may clearly fall in it and some things that do not. C) wheebr someone has a diagnosis, some other person has made a judgement based on certain criteria that the person has a disorder . For a diagnostic system to be useful it has to be reliable and vlid. Di erent people assessing the same people using the same system, and come up with the same diagnosis: reliable. Many years ago there was no system of diagnosis . Individuals g=could get 3 di erent diagnoses in 3 di erent organizations. Things that clinicians can observe with simple quetsions. All these criteria have to be met. Respond similarly to treatment, same cause, etc. Does not necessarily mean that if you mean 3/4 everything is just e but it just doesn"t meet the criteria. Couldn"t stigmatize the labelled person and reuse their self-esteem.
