Most studies are done on animals because anxiety is such it is such a complex issue. In small amounts anxiety is a good thing however when it gets out of control it can have the opposite effect. Fear: an immediate alarm reaction to danger. Panic attacks - an abrupt experience of intense fear or discomfort accompanied by physical symptoms such as heart palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath, and dizziness. Expected or cued - ex. fear of bridges,anxiety on bridges and nowhere else. Unexpected or uncued - you don"t know when or where they my next occur. Rates of comorbidity among anxiety and related disorders (and depression) are high. Anxiety disorders also co-occur with several physical conditions.
