PSYCO241 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Genetic Programming, Dhow, Theory Of Reasoned Action
Document Summary
Trying to understand other people and their behaviour. As kids we are told not to do this but as adults we cannot seem to help ourselves - we form quick judgements. Showed college students photos pf unfamiliar faces. 10th of a second half a second or even less. They also correlated with other peoples judgements who had as long as they wanted to judge. It takes mere fraction of a second to make a judgement. We will prejudge other people based on photographs as kind or man. Participants were told he was kind od mean. Perceived as having both positive and negative qualities. Have implications on how we treat people. Baby faces: better in day care workers. Baby faceless e ects human behaviour in the blink of an eye. Genetic programming by evaluation so that real babies are treated with gentlest and care. We simply use that in a broad way. Also treat cute animals in the same way.
