The direction that will currently pull is in one direction will be the one that has been treated less: autonomy vs. On value they value freedom to do what they want but on other hand they value connection making them dependent on partner. So embracing on of these will be denying the other ex. soo if you have a a lot of freedom lately then you strive to ful ll interdependence. So con ict will occur when ful lling these at different times: openness vs. closeness. We want self disclosure with partner but also want privacy to keep some things to ourselves: stability and change. The more you devote to your relationship the less you devote to other relationships. Con ict is inevitable as at some time you will have different motives. Every 3. 6 minutes between 4 year olds and mothers.
