Some crimes reported aren"t recorded by police: some sexual assaults, some hate crimes. The crime funnel a lot of crime but a large amount gets funneled out. Self- report surveys: reveal similar(to ucr) rates of serious crimes, but up to three times higher rates for less serious crimes.
