Men"s movement: re-evaluate gender status (some oppose feminism, personal growth - focus on forms of masculinity. Sexual harassment: quid pro quo" or hostile environ. Current trend towards legal protection of sexual minorities. Sexual orientation definition: identification of individuals as heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual, or asexual based on their emotional and sexual attractions, relationships, self-identity and lifestyle. Not static, but dynamic: misses out on how desires, attractions, and practices can vary over our lifetime. Gender identity: one person"s personal experience of ones own gender. Can be: same as assigned at birth, opposite to sex assigned at birth, other than man or woman. Transgender: people who do not fit neatly into either the male or female category, or whose behaviour is not congruent with rules and expectation for their sex in the society in which they live. Gender role: set of expectations concerning behaviours and attitudes that relates to being male and female. I am afraid to be a woman.
