The debate over anthropogenic climate change is an example of how scieniic data and technological soluions cannot be separated from value-laden modern and post-modern views about poliics, socio- economic cultures, and scieniic certainty and authority . Historians are wriing sci-i about the future in order to understand the present. They"re trying to solve the recalcitrance against climate change being real, and moivaing people to do something. Read the footnotes: some of the shit isn"t sci-i, it has already happened: we don"t study how humans interact with science. In the future, scienists are very concerned about this though: knowledge does not simply lead to acion( logos isn"t the same as techne, paxis): why do we know hwat"s happening, but never do anything about it. Kuhnian conservaism: kuhn is one of the most famous sts scholars ever. He argues that we have regular science, and then we have scieniic revoluions. Science is prety conservaive, tyring to keep its ideals.
