In the past, i used to understand rhetoric as the study of how to use words, phrases properly. It is focusing on how to make the paragraph looks better. For instance, advertisements in tv use rhetoric so much. They always try to exaggerate their products to make the audience think that their product is better than it is. Also, i often saw rhetoric in english classes, the english teacher used to teach us how to use figures of speech like simile, metaphor make our paragraphs better and easier to understand.
