For a long ime people lived scatered, as hunters and gatherers. 10 000 and 7 000 bc people started living clustered together over long periods of ime: one of the factors in this change is climate, the results of intensiicaion of the use of the environment. The domesicaion of plants and animals: domesicaion of plants and animals was the trigger that allowed people to live extensively in one place. These would have taken much manpower to create: hunter-gatherer socieies that came together to create these stone pillars, argued that the stones represent people (perhaps mythical people/beings, on these beings there are lots of carvings. Much to do with violence, sex, and death. Very male oriented carvings too (male animals: found in mesopotamia, site: wadi faynan in jordan, site: jericho has a large tower and human burials.
